Christians who desire to be successful know that all ideas are supposed to emanate from Christ. But it appears that few understand how such a process occurs and, even if it does, it’s so random that it’s completely unpredictable. I’m beginning to discover that this is not necessarily true. God has actually laid out in Scripture a plan for you and I to plug into our own personal Jesus. But exactly how to plug in remains a mystery. Let me share with you what I’ve learned so far. This year, 2012, is one of transition that, for most of you, will be the beginning of great success that will affect the rest of your lives. This means you will be establishing new relationships (most of them involving your workplace) with people who will stick with you for a long time. That’s why it’s important that we be very careful about whom we will associate with. There is a tendency for most of us to only choose successful people, those whom we think will be loyal to the very end, and who will never jump ship. At the beginning of the book of 1 Samuel we are given an incredible story about how God uses the handmaiden, Hannah, to turn all of Israel around to begin hearing the clear voice of God. As a matter of fact, the Bible says once Samuel became the prophet in Israel, all strife from Israel’s enemies ceased and the country was at peace all of the days of Samuel’s life. Samuel’s ability to hear the word of the Lord was responsible for this lasting peace. And when conflicts did arise, they were quickly resolved by miracles of the Lord. Continue reading →

Yes, I know this blog is late. And I would say that the most common complaint I’ve heard (from myself and others) regarding God, is that He seems to be late a lot. Even the ancient prophets commented about this divine characteristic. Hosea said, “Though He may tarry wait for it, it will come.” Is it true, then, that God could be late? Spiritual authority is an invisible force that can be used to your advantage if you understand its purpose in God’s divine plan. When I was just a young man in my early twenties, I was given a book about the Christian teachings of Watchman Nee, which was written during the time of World War II. He was a pharmacist in China and, though he never wrote a book, his students took notes on his teachings and they were later compiled into books that can be purchased on Amazon.com. A book that really affected my life was the one he wrote on spiritual authority. Continue reading →

Probably the hardest thing for us to face in leadership is the realization that we have made a mistake. But God desires for us to confess those mistakes so that those working with us understand that we have chosen the will of God above our own reputations. This week I faced such a decision. I’d known about my mistake for the last few months, during which time God has been putting me under chastisement. It was a good while ago that God gave me this simple prophetic word: “Less haste, more speed.” I don’t know if I can remember when a prophetic word has had so much influence on my life culture. One of the direct influences upon my ability to properly follow God, and submit to His daily instructions correctly, has been my ability to remove haste out of my life ~ especially in the decision-making process.
