“When will I see things change?” – I wondered.

That was the “Uh – oh” question that I knew would open the mental doors of “Worry” and “Try to figure it out.” I knew that: I don’t have the luxury of going down roads (mental journeys) that God doesn’t tell me to go down. You may ask, “How do you keep your mind from wandering?

About two weeks ago, when I was laying down to sleep, God spoke to me very clearly and said, “Get excited about what I do everyday.” This command was so simple and elementary, that it would be easy to dismiss. But what He said just clicked in me, and I knew that obeying His voice was most important. It was clear that my way of thinking would change.

The next day I determined to put God’s command to practice.

I went to pick up a friend with my dad in the morning – I got excited.

I worked at home on my computer – I got excited.

I ate lunch – I got excited.

I went to church – I got excited.

I prayed at the beach – I got excited.

I ate out with my family – I got excited.

I watched a movie – I got excited.

I hope you’re getting the point. In just one day my perspective changed from, “I can’t wait for things to change,” to “Wow, I’m having so much fun! What a perfect day.” God showed me so simply, how to change from concentrating on the negative, to accentuating the positive. I’m laughing more, and finding the Lord in each moment. At the same time, my desire to spend time with God is increasing. I’m noticing how God directs everything.

The person who lives in right relationship with God does it by embracing what God arranges for him. Doing things for God is the opposite of entering into what God does for you. Habakkuk had it right: “The person who believes God, is set right by God – and that’s the real life.” Galatians 3:11

What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. Matthew 6:31

Jesus was blunt: “No chance at all if you think you can pull it off by yourself. Every chance in the world if you let God do it.” Mark 10:27

All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God’s authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you – that’s the agenda for rejoicing.” Luke 10:20

Jesus said, “You’re tied down to the mundane; I’m in touch with what is beyond your horizons. You live in terms of what you see and touch. I’m living on other terms. I told you that you were missing God in all this. You’re at a dead end. If you won’t believe I am who I say I am, you’re at the dead end of sins. You’re missing God in your lives.” John 8:23 – 24

Don’t you see: When we enjoy the twists and turns in our day ~ believing that Jesus is working everything out for our good~ we will find that God is moving us along in the right direction. This concept is so simple and liberating. I have noticed a dramatic change in the way I am observing life, all because of a simple command God gave me: “Get excited about what I do everyday.
