What Is Busy?

I used to be so busy. I needed a list to keep track of my to-do lists. As co-head of props, sets, and set decorating, I’d have a constant flow of work coming in that I’d have to keep track of and keep in control. I’d have to make weekly reports on who was working where and on what, making sure that everyone had the right materials to do the task at hand. Then God said, “Hey! Knock it off!” If you’ve been reading other WYSIWYG blogness, I’m sure you’ve read something of our eviction from the Treasure Island Studio.

In 2007, work went s-l-o-w-l-y and even though there were still projects for me, and my department, to work on, it was nothing like the cuckoo-town of years before. All of my neurotic listing talent – useless! I didn’t have more time; I just filled my time with different things. I was able to work, and pray about what I was working on and having problems with; I came to feel like God is more my direct project manager, instead of just the CEO of WYSIWYG. I really pray now when I work on something, not just to say, “Hey God, do I do this or not?” but really, “Father, what if we do it like this?!!” I have found a new way to surrender to God–to say, “Lord, you make this decision. Lord, I need a new idea. I give you all my creative control, God!” I have peace about the decisions that are made in my departments, and I have turned out some paintings & sculptures that have been some of my brightest work thus far–and without pulling any of my hair out while working on them.

I then saw this video.
YouTube – Satan’s Meeting ( Watch and Pass on )

God has told me to ask for what I need–and boy, do I try to ask big! Materials, extra people to help in crunch time, even coffee with extra cream comes when I ask my Father. I’ve prayed for and with people that I work with now and I’ve seen them blessed.

I know God doesn’t just want my work–He wants my passion for Him to come out in what I do.

I’m not just busy praying and working; I’m busy taking time to listen for God’s voice and I’m hanging on by the seat of my pants doing what He tells me to do!

  • Wow. That was great. I especially could relate to that YouTube video.

I’ve always been busy, taking too many class, doing too many sports and trying to be in too many clubs.

Now I’m have only 14 units in college, but I’m working 20+ hours a week and I’m in two plays. I’ve never been busier. And I know my relationship with God has suffered. I knew it, but this was good to see, to have my lack of time for Him thrown in my face.

I need to do something about it. I will do something about it, because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! Thank you!
